Question
About 2 years ago I had my 30 some year old wall clock serviced  and repaired by a local clock man who had been in business for many years. It's been working great chiming etc however the other day upon going to wind it I noticed one of the two thin copper rods behind the pendulum laying in the bottom of clock box.  It still works but unfortunately this elderly gentleman is no longer in business as I called to ask him  what to do.  Can we replace this rod and is it necessary.  Thanks so much

Answer
It sounds like one of the chime rods has broken.  If the lack of sound from that rod does not bother you, I would suggest you ignore the problem.  Ultimately, however, you will have to have the clock serviced, at which time you could have the rod replaced, there by preserving the integrity of the clocks originality.  To find a new repair person in your area, simply open the web site local, following the instructions there you will be rewarded with a list of repair persons in your area.  Regards WJP
