Clocks, Watches/H.A.C clock chime

Question
Hi, I have recently been give a H.A.C clock which has a number of W.274/100 GAA. It has been keeping really good time but the chiming seems very odd, on the half hour it chimes and then it chimes the hours but not always the right amount. We I looked in the back it seems to raise the little hammers but not every time or it only does the 2 back hammers, is there anyway to solve this without spending a fortune at a clock menders.

Kind regards

Pip

Answer
It sounds like your clock is in need of cleaning.  But before jumping the gun in that direction, try relocating the weights, putting the heaviest weigh on the right as you face the clock.  If the clock is spring powdered, this option would not be available to you and you would have to go directly to cleaning, or at least fresh lubricants.  Regards WJP
