Clocks, Watches - KIENINGER CLOCK

Expert: Kenneth Saunders - 5/25/2009

Question
My Kieninger 340-020(?)clock chimes every quarter hour and continues to do so for about 10 minutes before it stops. Also it chimes but does not strike. Grateful for your advice thank you.

Answer
340-020 is a Hermle part number for their movement not a Kieninger

Hermles have a pin on their shutoff chime cam that breaks off sometimes and give that symptom. You need a pro to repair by removing the mechanism and replacing the cam on the end of the shaft with a new one.(new ones not available to the public) Fixing it should allow it to strike properly as well.

or buy a dead movement on Ebay?
