Clocks, Watches - Mechanical Grandfather Clock Chain Wind

Expert: Kenneth Saunders - 5/21/2009

Question
Chain on right side of grandfather clock wind does not lock in place with or without weight. Recently moved clock. As a result, it cannot be wound. Left side chain weight is fine.

Answer
chain must run in the groove of the chain wheel-if is off the track as it were, you get those symptoms. check both sides to see fif where the chain goes looks the same. If the same, call a pro, you have problems only a repair person can fix.
