Clocks, Watches/Seth Thomas clock

Question
I inherited a Seth Thomas mantel clock and have no idea what kind it actually is.  Description is:  Black wood back and bottom, the letters ST in a circle on the face, four pillars on each side (caramel colored), brownish/black in color, filigree designed scrolled in gold in 4 corners around the face and a large one on bottom plate near the bottom.  I am interested in finding out more about this clock - unfortunately I do not have a key.  Inside the back it does say Seth Thomas, Thomaston, CT.  So any information you could give me would be greatly appreciated (year, history, worth, where I could get a key)  Thanks

Answer
You could, most likely, obtain a key from a local jewelry store.  I cannot make judgements on a clock I have not seen nor examined.  Seth Thomas made thousands of different models of clocks, to identify 1 out of those thousands is nigh on to impossible.  If you wish to pursue this further with me, send some digital pictures.  Should you do this include a measuring device, such as a ruler, next to the clock.  This would permit me to establish demensions.  Sorry I cannot otherwise help you.  Regards WJP
