Question
QUESTION: My clock chime with a tight wind will only strike for about 3 days.  The last time I wound it, it would not strike at all. Is this something a little 3in1 oil will fix?

ANSWER: Please do not use 3in1 or other similar lubricants.  They will cause more harm than good.  If you have installed such lubricants they will have to be flushed out before any correction can be made.  There are a number of clock lubricant and instructional kits on the web.  I suggest you seek one out.  Regards WJP

QUESTION: All right!  No lubricant has been used as yet.  Back to the original question;  what can I do to get the chime to work?

Answer
You need to get the clock cleaned, adjusted and lubricated.  As a stop gap I would recommend you lubricate the clock, using a kit as I suggested.  One that comes to mind is available at <howtorepairclocks.com/clock-oil.html>  Hope this works for you.  Regards WJP
