QuestionQUESTION: I have a battery operated pendulum clock that has stopped chiming. Is there any way that this can be fixed?
ANSWER: Usually quartz (battery) movements are not considered repairable. In most cases the movement can be replaced at a reasonable price. Please give me some details on your movement.
What kind of battery does it use?
Can you see a speaker for the chimes?
Are there any markings on the back of the movement?
A photo would be great.

QUESTION: It uses 2 C batteries and yes I can see the speaker. I can not see any marrkings.
AnswerMost likely, one battery is for the time and the other is for the chime. Have you changed both batteries with fresh ones?
It might be a Hermle movement. These are notorious for failing on the chime side. The factory says to use Duracell Copper Top batteries becase of the shape of the battery top. I have not found this to be effective but you might want to try it.
Otherwise you might have to replace the movement. I can help you choose the correct one but will need a lot of information before going that route.
