Question
I recently replaced a SEIKO chime/pendulum movement and the problem is on the westminister chimes, it will not chime the hour at the 9:00PM time, it will on the 9:00AM as well as all other hours but not at 9:00PM It does the westminister chime thing but only rings 1 time for the hour. What causes this as it has really confused me?

Answer
Hi Tom,

I'm going to assume that this is a battery/quartz clock, as it is a Seiko and as mechanical clocks do not usually have a.m. & p.m.

Quartz movements have no repairable parts. Stopping at only 9:00p.m. does not sound like any kind of adjustment or setting problem (such as Night Silent, where it would stop chiming from a particular hour, then restart at another hour). The only remedy for an internal problem in a quartz movement is to replace the entire movement. If you replaced it recently, it may be under warranty. http://www.clockmasteronline.com
