Clocks, Watches/Clock runs slow-How to adjust

Question
I have 31 day Waltham chime mantel clock, it's been a great clock for the last 25 years, starting to run a little slow. Can you adjust this by using the nut on the bottom of the swinging arm, and if so up or down??  Thanks

Answer
Hi Cal,

You turn the regulating nut to the right (raising the pendulum bob) to make the clock go faster, and vice versa. Start with small increments such as 1/2 turn for each minute per day that the clock is off by.

However, you should consider the cause of the clock's running slow after keeping time properly for years. The two most likely causes would be that either the clock needs to be lubricated, or that the bearings in the movement are worn. A professional clock repairer can both lubricate the movement and check for wear.  http://www.clockmasteronline.com
