Question
QUESTION: Hello Melvin,

I have an Illinois pocket watch and I was wondering if you could offer any information. The movement number is 2025544.  Thanks Steve

ANSWER: Steven,

The watch was made in 1907.  That is the same year my grandmother was born.

Illinois watches are top quality and very collectible.

Illinois Watch Co. operated out of Springfield, Illinois
from 1869-1927.  Then it was sold to Hamilton Watch Company
and operated from 1928-1950's.

Kind regards,

Melvin

QUESTION: Thanks for getting back so quick Melvin.  Wow that's pretty old.  I don't want to bother you with prices so I won't ask.  My situation is that I have a bunch of these antique watches that my father used to collect and I would like to sell them on ebay, so I have been trying to find a website where I could look up the current prices.  Any help would be appreciated.  Thanks again,
Steven

Answer
Steven,

Get  a book by Cooksey Shugart, the complete price guide to watches.

It is the bible and all horologists use it.

Once you determine what you want for the watches, please send me a list of what you have.

I collect watches and might be interested in buying some.

Kind regards,

Melvin
