QUESTION: I have a mantle clock from my grandparents. the stamp is FHS - germany and what appears to be a picture of a clock on the back. I assume it is a Franz Herme & Sons clock. Additionally, there is a black stamp on the door that says No. 295/W2 K. On the front facepiece is gold and says solar. I really just want to try and figure out the age of this clock as my daughter wants to take it to school for antique day and needs some information about it.
Thanks,
Susan
ANSWER: not of course an antique-it is less than 100 years old. but maybe they play loose with the definitions?
any other stamped markings on the back of the brass movement itself?
