Question I recently acquired a Mantle Clock that was my grandfathers. The tag under the clock is missing. Inside the cover it say 8 day kewound clock with strike movement. catalog no. 1200. It is also inked stamped with a 6911. The mechanism says made in germany with a number a208-005 two jewels 6906. I am trying to get some information on this clock. Like what year it was built and any other information you can think of would be appreciated.
Thanks
Don
Answer November 1969 ST assembled the Hermle German 140-010a movement that was made in June of 1969 into the case. Hermle still makes the mechanism but ST has been out of business for 18(?) years now. The 2 jewels are bearings in the upper and lower end of the floating balance escapement that does the ticking.
