Question
Dear Sir,

I have a clock with "new" mechanics at least 6 years old, My problem is that it rings 33 or various indiscriminate  numbers of time, sometimes on the half hour and during certain hours it works fine. I have let it unwind on both the time keeping and the ringer. If I wind it it will continue to ring till it unwinds to about 12 hrs left. It is a 6 or 8 day clock. it is keeping time fine.

Can you assist?

gratefully
Grace

Answer
Between the dial and the front plate of the movement there is a series of wheels, levers, etc. that comprise the time works.  I suspect these wheels etc., are in need of fresh lubricant. I suggest you have the clock cleaned and adjusted.  All this would be corrected by that work.  Regards WJP
