Question

wall clock
My antique wall clock has the chimes sounding 5 minutes before the hour and half hour.  It keeps good time.  How do I set the chimes to match the hour and half hour?

Answer
Your clock is 100% Austro/German, there is nothing English about it.  To synchronize chiming to time you must alter the position of the minute hand.  This adjustment requires you to remove the minute hand from it arbor (shaft).  By examination you will find the minute hand is held in place by a hand washer fixed in place by a taper pin.  With pliers remove the taper pin, this will allow you to remove the washer and the hand with ease.  Once you get to this point take a digital picture of the reverse side of the hand and send it to me.  I will need to see that before I can describe the next step you should take to correct the problem.  Regards WJP

CommentThank you !!!!!! I will follow step 1 instructions as you have outlined. I will send the photo as you requested. I look forward to step 2. This clock was purchased in England in 1968 (it was in an old garage). I had it restored there.
