Question i know nothing of grandfather clocks and have to transport one 125 miles? where can i get info on how to disassemble and secure for transport a colonial of zeeland mich. westminster chime rodtype?? made in 70's? thanks for any help. it is appreciated---theo
Answer 1 un-hook remove the 3 weights - heaviest goes back on the right side when reassembling.
2 twisty tie the chains or cables in a clump like a pony-tail up underneath the bottom of the movement so they do not get off track.
3 un hook pendulum from its leader at the back and even with the bottom of the mechanism (leaving the leader piece attached and hanging off the top back of the mechanism)
4 snap two medium rubber bands around the mid points of the entire bunch of chime rods - so they are held together as one.
5 lay the clock on its back and carry it like a sofa out the door and lay it flat for transport.
