Question
I purchased a Blessing clock at a garage sale, it works fine. It looks as if the base is made of Jade, it had a triangular base on bottom with cherubs blowing trumpets around them. Then is has a slim slick pillar of jade with another small triangular base on top, it holds a golden looking ring with intricate designs of two angels on each side with a cherub on top playing a harp. This band has leaves and intricates around it that hold the clock in place. The clock says Blessing on the front, Roman Numerals and above each numeral looks as if there is a dot of jade . The clock hands also seem to have jade on them. Can you tell me when the clock was made, anything about the manufacture, it's stamped on the back West Germany. Its an alarm clock , wind up. etc. I am enclosing a picture. Please feel free to email me at I would also like to know the value of the clock, I paid forty dollars for it. Thanks Vickie Lomon
AnswerI can't tell you with any certainty exactly when it was made but I'll take a guess and give you my reasoning for the dates.
West Germany was formed in 1949 and dissolved in 1990 so we can absolutely narrow it down to being between those dates. Judging by the jade I would guess it to be before 1980. The clock face is typical of being made after 1960, perhaps even 1970. My logic puts it sometime between 1965 and 1980.
I hope this information helps, I'm sorry I can't pin it down any further.
