Question
I would like to date an AM Waltham watch no. 2713602 It has initials and date 1896 engraved on back. Would this be an accurate date for this serial no.

THANKS

Answer
Gerry,

To date the watch, you need to serial number on the movement itself.

When you get that number, go to this url to get the date:

http://www.pocketwatchsite.com/walthamserials.html

The initials and date are from a watchmaker.  they used to do that to note when the watch was serviced.

Kind regards,

Melvin
