Question
QUESTION: Ingraham mantle clock suddenly began stopping while in the motion to strike on the hour. Any suggestions? TY

ANSWER: Your clock needs cleaning.  The added friction caused by the striking is more than he is capable of delivering, without some help.  Cleaning will most likely solve your prblem.  Regards WJP

QUESTION: not a question, just comment. I did clean and oil though not  electrostatically, it already has more bushings than not, it will work best if it is wound tight. It probably should be disassembled and oiled during reassembling again . I do agree , there is resistance going on, Ty, for your reply, Dale

Answer
Your answer proves my point.  The clock cannot run free it is bogged down by friction.  Anytime you clean a clock that has been rebushed, assume the worst, one or more bushing and or pivot is out of proper alignment and near friction free.  Another thing you cannot properly clean and inspect a clock unless you take it totally apart, clean, polish and repair every pivot.  Regards WJP
