QUESTION: Turning the minute hand manually the clock chimes properly. When the minute hand is installed the clock starts to chime first the hour on the half hour and half hour on the hour then starts to chime at random. Any answers for this problem?     Thank you:   Jim

ANSWER: What type of clock are you talking about?  Spring wound, weight driven, quartz, electric, atmosphere, what?  What kind of clock is it?  Name, wall hung, shelf, floor.  Perhaps you could send me a digital or two.  I simply cannot help using information provided.  Regards WJP

QUESTION: Sorry for giving enough information. The clock I have is an Ansonia. I think the are called a kitchen clock or gingerbread clock. It has two springs one for the chime and one for the time. It is still the same question. Turning the hand manually the clock chimes properly. When the clock runs on its own the half hour chimes on the hour and the hour chimes on the half. I have set the time numerous times correctly by releasing the hour hand to set the hour. Again I apologize for not giving enough informatiion.  Any suggestions.          Jim

Answer
I would suggest your clock needs cleaning.  The fact that it works great when you push the hand around using external force lead me to believe it is no longer capable of pushing everything around on its own.  Ansonia made great clocks, take good care of him, he will rewards you with many years of service.  Regards WJP
