Question

Pallet fork
Hello,
1. I am working on a GB presumably from circa 1915.
The pallet has 2 blades fastened by 2 screws each.  The blades are unevenly installed and one of them is flush to the top surface of the pallet fork while the second one is sticking out about 2mm from the top surface.  Is there a a solid way to adjust hose so that the pendulum swings symmetrically ?

2. Is it possible to buy leather inserts for the gong hummer?

Thanks, Saul.

Answer
check out here: http://www.clockwatch.de/index.html?html/tec/hem/gra.htm

they may be adjusted ok now - and the pendulum will swing symmetrically regardless

but you can play with them if you want or need to based on performance of the escapement and the equalness of the escape wheel teeth hitting on the pallet faces as in the animation. Supply the power to the time train by finger pressure not weights or springs for testing purpose. you can loosen the screws just enough to adjust while in the clock and then remove to tighten or sneak in with your screwdriver from the outside or use thin pliers to tighten from the side.

Yes you can but shoe leather or and old belt or even a bit of plastic  rubber or wood will work well --cut with side cutters or razor blade -trim and squeeze with pliers and stuff in the end of the head.
