My father found a mantel clock with the following engravings inside the back. There was also a tag attached by a string that read Linden black forest, finest quality in 8 day chime clocks, fully guaranteed.

inside said: 1979, Cuckoo Clock MFG. Co. INC, Nu (C) JEWELS or No(C) Jewels, UNADJUSTED, Made in west germany, 1051-020,
15 cm over 178.28

my questions are is this worth anything of course, and can i get a key made for it. is it worth fixing.

I cannot place a value upon any item I have not personally examined.  That being said I can tell you the clock was made by Hermle in 1979.  As far as restoring the clock is concerned, that is a decision the owner needs make himself.  If he really likes it and wants it, I would say go for it.  Hang the cost, just do it.  Regards WJP
