QuestionQUESTION: Have the same problem as questioner above but different clock, can you help me please? batt. AA 1.5v. Shaft has a cog on inner end - with cog 29mm, without cog 25mm. Thread piece on rear of movement - 7mm long, 7.5mm in diameter. Second hand goes through other hands (round holes)and pushes onto shaft by 4mm with a small round hole.
ANSWER: What does the inner cog do?

QUESTION: I do not know, it all fell to pieces when I opened it up, but it is actually a double cog, one much larger than the other, I can only assume that its primary function is to drive the second hand which in turn drives the other hands. This conclusion is backed up by the fault, which was that at a quarter to 12 the second hand stops and just judders, and the other hands stop.
AnswerI really can't go by the dimensions of any gears that are inside the movement. We are only concerned with what is out side of the movement.
Usually there is a threaded base of the handshaft for mounting the movement. We measure its length. (this is called threaded length) Then we measure from the front of the movement to the tip (total length).
I would also like to know if the minute hand has a round hole or an oblong one. We only sell movements for hands that have an oblong hole in the minute hand.
