Question
QUESTION: i overwound my Trend Grandfather Clock and the weights aren't dropping.  It's keeping time fine, but the weights AND the pendulum don't move.

ANSWER: A typical weight driven grandfather clock can't keep time if the pendulum does not move.
Can you look at the back of the clock movement and tell me any numbers stamped on it?
I'm going out of town until Sunday and may not be able to respond until then.

QUESTION: i'm sorry.  i meant to say the weights don't move and it doesn't chime.  the pendulum DOES move.
thanks again.

Answer
If the pendulum is moving the center weight will travel down the case. This is the weight to power the pendulum and hands.
The right weight is for your quarter hour chime, the left one is for the hour strike. The first thing to do is get your chimes working (right weight).
Be sure that the heaviest weight is on the right side.
If this does not start the chime the clock may need oiling, adjusting or more serious repair work.
Let me know if it is still not chiming.
