Clocks, Watches/speed adjustment

Question
I have a clock from Cuckoo Clock Mfg. Co., Inc., marked 2 jewels, Made in W. Germany, #1050-020. It loses about 3 minutes a day and I would like to adjust it myself. Is that possible? I don't see any adjustment apparatus on the back, only a + and - but with no visible set screws. Thanks

Answer
Hi John,

If there is no adjustment screw at the very top of the movement, you have the older version of the 1050-020, which has a helical spring, which is cylindrical in shape and holds the balance wheel suspended. This movement is regulated by moving a 3-pronged piece which sits directly on top of the balance wheel and presses tightly onto the balance wheel. You must hold the balance wheel very steady, so that it does not get pushed up, down or sideways, and then move the 3-pronged piece toward the "+" a few notches with a tweezers or very small screwdriver.  http//www.clockmasteronline.com.
