Question

Regula_movement
Dear Sir,
I am in need of cannon pinion carrying cams for actuating 1/2 & 1 hour bellow/bird operation & striking for a cuckoo clock to caliber number- Regula 25 H-GM1884288
                                                                                     1692176
Movement manufactured by Schneider S' OHNE,Germany. I received this clock for servicing without this cannon pinion.
I request you to tell me how many teeth should be there in the cannon pinion which is press fitted on the center wheel with movement plate in between. I shall appreciate a positive reply & if you could throw some light where I can source the same, since this cuckoo clock belongs to an orphanage & I desire to make it ready for the children. Unfortunately the movement manufacturer does not have this part. The
Center wheel has 36 teeth, Minute wheel has 36 teeth & minute wheel pinon has 10 teeth & hour wheel with cam has 40 teeth.
Thanking You,
With Best Regards
V.S.Bharadwaj

Answer
Truely, I believe it would be far more cost effective and efficient to simply purchase a new regula 25 movement.  Over its many years of production there have been 10's of thousands of varients.  To find the correct part you seek could take years of trial and error.

I would suggest you acquire a copy of Karl Kochmann's, The Black Forest Cuckoo Clock.  Once in a while you can find this book on ebay at a real good price.  I believe I would be safe in calling this book the BIBLE of cuckoo clocks.  You can find the answers to most questions about cuckoo's therein.

As far as a source for a Regula 25 I would suggest looking at TimeSavers on-line catalog.  <www.timesavers.com>  I would not suggest a used or rebuilt movement.  They are most often more trouble than they are worth.  Let me kinow how you make out on this.  Regards WJP

I AM TROUBLED BY THIS MATTER.  HAVE YOU BEEN ABLE TO FIND THE PART?  IF ALL ELSE FAILS I HAVE A REGULA 25 THAT I COULD SEND YOU.  I WOULD HATE TO LET THE CHILDREN BE DISAPPOINTED.  AGAIN MY REGARDS WJP.
