Question
Hello-
I have a Hamilton mantel clock on which unfortunately the posts have been wound too tight.  Is there anything I can do to fix it, or will I have to take it to be repaired?
Thank you.

Answer
When a clock is in good operating condition you should be able to wind it all the way up without a problem. If the clock won't run you will need to take it to a repair person. Letting down the power of the mainspring takes special tools and experience. There is a lot of power there and many a person has been hurt by the mainspring unleashing their power all at once.
