Clocks, Watches/Hermle Clock

Question
Mr. Meyer, I have a Hermle 7408HRM battery wall clock with pendulum. The back states that it is a quartz 2215, that is all the information that I have.  I have no instructions and when I changed the batteries I am unable to get the pendulum to swing continually.  It will swing for awhile and then slow down and stop.  I know I am missing something simple.  Any help would be appreciated.

Answer
Hi Greg,

First, make sure that you are using fresh, full-strength alkaline batteries, not rechargeable or old-fashioned "heavy duty" carbon-zinc batteries, installed in the correct directions. Next, make sure that the clock is level on the wall; if it has a side-to-side or front-to-back tilt, the pendulum will not keep swinging. Finally check the magnet near the top of the pendulum to make sure that it has not attracted any small metal piece; the magnet is what makes the pendulum swing, and any impediment will cause it to stop. If these corrections do not help, the movement may be defective.  http://www.clockmasteronline.com
