Question
Hi Melvin,

I saw that you can answer the year a watch was made by the serial number.  I have an Illinois Autocrat #3387014 17 jewel double roller.

Also, how do I know what it's made out of?  It kind of looks like old gold.

Thanks!!

Ashley

Answer
Ashley,

Here is the website that I use as a quick reference.

He took the information from the same source that I used originally.

Based on the serial number, the watch was made in 1918.

Illinois watches are highly collectible.

Kind regards,

Melvin
