Clocks, Watches/Kieninger PS058

Question
I have a PS058 movement with the 1/2-hour and hour strike. I switched the night-shut-off option from <<STRIKE>> to <<NIGHT-OFF>> during the day cycle. The following day, I decided to return it to <<STRIKE>> since I missed the chime at night. However, this resulted in the clock skipping the chime at 10:30PM, but chiming at all other times as far as I can tell. I have spent most of the day verifying the half hour and full hour strike and am pretty sure that it is only the 10:30PM that it misses.  There is a click at 10:30PM, but the fan does not turn nor does the hammer strike the coil gong.  Is there something I can do to correct this issue?

The clock is pretty much brand new since I purchased it in Europe on our trip three months ago.  It is technically still under warranty, but I would not want to send it back to the clock shop in Europe since I live in the U.S.  Does the warrantee extend to a local shop?

Answer
Hi Henc,

There is very little that you can do to correct the Night Silent mechanism. I would recommend that you turn the lever from Strike to Silent back and forth several times to make sure that the lever is fully in its Strike position. The Night Silent is a complicated mechanism, and should only be serviced by a qualified clock repairer.

I cannot speak for Kieninger regarding their warranty, and clocks made for the European market may or may not be covered for repair by a Kieninger service center in the U.S. You should contact Kieninger directly for this information.
