Question
QUESTION: I have an Urgos triple chime mantle clock #338414 with 9 rods going under the movement. This clock has a "floating"open escapement, which became dislodged (my fault ), when I was repairing a broken wind up spring.
My question is what set up procedure do I follow to correctly re-engage the three pronged fork to the platform asembly of the escapement. Also there is a steel wire on the escapement that has sprung out of position. This appears to be what the hollow shaft of the escapement wheel is centred on , is this correct.
Thank you

ANSWER: not that familiar with Urgos- they quit making them long ago-- you can remove the balance assemble to reposition it - sounds like you broke the wire? got a photo?

QUESTION: I did wonder about the free end at the base of the bracket assembly only entering the hollow shaft about 3/16 ".
Do you suggest that the wire should be continuous thru the shaft with attachments only on the bracket. The wire appears to measure 0.001 inch.
Would this be available as a spare part or is this dream stuff?

the wire goes through the assembly bottom and up the back and through the top and over the top to the back and the wire goes through the tube. Wire is available if you want to try to repair a broken wire or just buy a new unit if Merritts still has them
