Question
I have a cuckoo clock that is 45 years old. It keeps perfect time, but the chain at makes the cuckoo cuckoo will not stay up. As soon as I let the chain go when I pull it up the weight falls the full length of the chain. The chains are good and I think in the proper slots. Can you help me? Thank you. Rosanne
Sounds like the ratchet on the strike train 1st wheel has become disengaged. I suspect this is a job you should refer to a clock repair person. If you are the type who does this type of thing yourself, you will need to remove the movement from the case to make appropriate repairs.
