Question
I just got this grandfather clock from my mother , she is terminal with cancer and wanted me to have it. It has been in our family 26 years now. I would like to know how old the clock is and and any thing else you could tell me. Especially , how do I get the time set to go off with the chimes on the hour? I have set it it stays on time but will not chime on the hour. Chime does work. I would appreciate all you can tell me so I will know how to set and take care of my clock. The more I know, the better I can take care of it. I thank you in advance .
Sincerely, Susan

Answer
I will need the information stamped upon the clock movements brass backplate.  Much of the information you seek is encoded within that data.  Open the back of the clock case, so that you can see the backplate, copy down all the information thereon and send it to me, as a follow up to this question.  Regards WJP
