Clocks, Watches/Urgos mantel clock
Expert: William J Perkins - 10/27/2010
QuestionI was given a clock which belonged to my grandmother and would love to get
it working again. I have had a look at the workings and have discovered it is
a Urgos movement and I have pretty much established that it's suspension
spring needs to be replaced as it is broken. It ticks away quite well without
it's pendulum so I assume all else is OK. Is the suspension spring a
reasonably easy part to replace or is it something only a clocksmith can do?
If so I live in Sydney Australia any recommendations?
AnswerI suggest you go to the on-line catalog for Ronell Clocks the e-mail address for this house is <ronell.com> I believe he depicts pendulum springs for Urgos. If not e-mail the firm, Have all the information that is stamped upon the clock movements brass backplate at hand. However before doing that I suggest you contact a local clock repair person for advice. I sense your problem is more than the loss of a pendulum spring. Let me know how you make out on this.
