Clocks, Watches/Cuckoo Clock

Question
Hello.  I have an older cuckoo clock that my dad replaced the gears in about a year ago.  I'm guessing the clock is around 40 years old and it was bought in the states. It started to cuckoo the wrong number of times on the hour.  It's always one more cuckoo then the time should be.  Any suggestions?

Answer
You need to reposition the hour hand.  Say for example it is 1 o'clock and the cuckoo announces that it is 2 o'clock.  To correct this problem you would simply push in on the hour hand and gently turn it to the 1 o'clock position.  You can do this because the hand is held on its shaft by friction.  That is why you must push in while turning the hand.  This will maintain the friction grasp.  Regards WJP
