QuestionQUESTION: I have a New England Clock co. grandfather clock containing a movement marked UW 7/53 which I suspect is what is called an Urgos movement. I took the pendulum to a so called "clock repair" shop in Madison, In. to have an extended pendulum rod {flat/brass} made. The guy died before making the rod and the pendulum got lost in one of the mountains of parts in his back room. Any suggestions on where to find a replacement pendulum?
ANSWER: Your Urgos movement most likely has its pendulum requirements stamped upon the back plate. If it does not I would suggest the old trial and error routine. I.e., make up a trial pendulum that you know to be too long and simply keep cutting it off until time keeping is achieved. Use the measurements thus evolved to order a proper pendulum through one of the many clock materials houses. Regards WJP

QUESTION: What I need is the location of a clock parts manufacturer where I can get the pendulum/rod assembly (bob and rod)with the correct HOOK at the top to fit into the pendulum leader. The original rod and bob with the correct HOOK is what got lost. There doesn't appear to be anything stamped on the back plate.
