Clocks, Watches/Hermle 2115 Movement

Question
Hello, I noticed an answer you gave about a Hermle 2115 movement. I have an 11 year old Howard Miller clock with a Hermle 2115 movement that needs to be replaced. You said the Hermle 2115 has a design flaw in it. Is there a different movement that you would recommend to use instead of the Hermle 2115?

Answer
I did have a lot of problems with these movements about 10 years ago. Last May I visited a company that sells hundreds of these every year and asked them about the movements. They told me that they have not really had any trouble at all. Given that information I am going to guess that Hermle corrected the problem and the movements should be considered at good as any on the market.
There is really no other movement with the features and sound of these. You can change the movement for another chiming one but I don't think you will get a night time shut off and selectable chime. Have a look at www.klockit.com. They sell the Hermle and a few other brands as well.
