Clocks, Watches/Howard Miller School House Wall Clock

QuestionQUESTION: My clock strikes the wrong hour count on the hour. Example, strikes 10
times at 3:00. It also strikes a few minutes after the hour.
I never received an instruction booklet when I purchased this clock. Is this
clock a two day clock? How often should this clock be wound?
Thank you for any help you can give me.
Christine
ANSWER: This should be a simple thing to fix but I need to know what kind of clock movement is in it.
Is it a wind up movement or battery operated?
If is battery can you look at the back of the movement and tell me any markings on it?
Thanks,
Michael

QUESTION: It's a wind up.
Thanks again,

AnswerTo get the clock striking the correct hour, simply move the hour had to whatever hour the clock is striking. Then reset the clock to the correct time. Most modern clocks are set up so that you can move the minute hand backwards until you get to the correct time. If your clock has a chime or strike shut off, you can turn off the sound and advance the minute hand.
Otherwise, move the minute hand forward but stop for the chime or strike as needed.
The adjustment for getting the clock to chime straight up is in the minute hand. You need to unscrew the small nut holding the minute hand on and pull that hand off. There is a collet where the hand mounts. Grab that collet with a pair of pliers and hold it steady. Push the hand in the direction it needs to go in order for it to chime straight up.
