Question
I want to have a Schatz Ocean-Quartz striking ships clock repaired. It's a battery operated clock. I spoke to a clock repair man and he didn't seem interested. I believe it was because it wasn't a mechanical clock. It starts when I insert a new battery the stops shortly after. I would appreciate it if you could recommend a place I can have it repaired.

Answer
I don't know any clock repair people who might be willing to take on this job. If you could provide a replacement movement for the clock it might be easy enough for you to do on your own. Hermle used to make a quartz ships clock movement but I think it's been discontinued. You can try www.klockit.com. Otherwise you might have to put a non striking movement in it. You can probably use a mini quartz and spend less than $10.00.
