have a black forest wood cutter clock. the dancers and water wheel have stopped working. the weight will let me rewind but will not release or move with the other weights. looked inside and a small spring is not attached at one end. don't know where it goes and could this be the possible problem?

You need help with this.  The spring you mention could well be the problem.  From what you tell me I rather suspect there is a damaged lift or lock wire present that needs adjustment.  I suggest you take your dear cuckoo to a clock repair person for a look see and some advice.  Regards WJP
