Clocks, Watches/pocket watch

Question
I have recently purchased a M.A. Rodman pocket watch.  Its inscribed M.A.Rodman Ionia, Michigan on the dial and inside on the movement. I was looking for ANY info you could give me on this particular company.  Inside the hunters case its stamped "April 22, 1884" so i'm guessing its pretty damn old. Thanks

Answer
M.A. Rodman is most likely the name of the person the watch was made for or a model name.  The name of the maker will most likely be found engraved upon the watches back plate, (not the case or the dial), along with other pertinent information.  Such as serial number, number of jewels, adjustments etc.  To help you I would need to actually see the watch.  Sorry I cannot help you.  Regards WJP
