QuestionQUESTION: Comtoise Large Pendulum Wall Clock with Pendulum that has Rocking Cradle that is supposed to rock back and forth as the pendulum swings - I need a diagram showing how to set the internal pendulum weights of the rocking cradle inside the pendulum. The large wall clock is a hand made replica made in Germany. I purchased it 20 years ago at a watch and clock show in Hong Kong. The manufacturer in Germany, Dekert, will not tell me how to adjust the internal weight inside the pendulum so the cradle rocks well! I will be grateful for any help you may be able to provide. Thank you.
ANSWER: Sorry, I have no diagrams for this clock. Getting information about servicing the original Comtoise is very difficult. It is somewhat easier with the replicas. The problem is locating the actual manufacturer. Oftentimes the name stamped upon the clock resolves nothing other than who the original seller was. Wish I could help you. Regards WJP

QUESTION: The original manufacturer is Deckert Clock Compamy in Germany. They are in business now for over 40 years and still produce this clock but will not give me any information how to set the weights in the pendulum so the cradle will rock! This company also runs a clock museum in Germany. Their web site is www.comtoise.com Perhaps they will give you this information I need. I thank you in advance for your efforts.
AnswerSorry still can't help you. I've tried to get information from this firm before, to no avail. I even considered using diplomatic resources, but was advised not to do it. I would suggest you contact the answerman service through the National Association Of Watch And Clock Collectors. I understand they will occasionally help non-members that have unique problems. I do wish you luck
