Clocks, Watches/Suspension Spring

Question
I need a suspension spring for an otherwise pristine JAHRESUHRENFABRIK anniversary clock. Are there different sizes or other specifications? If so what identifies the correlation between clock and suspension spring? Do you know where I can purchase a replacement and backup? Thank you!

Answer
Go to your local library and request the loan of the following book;  "The Horolovar 400 Day clock, Repair Guide by Charles Terwilliger"  This is the absolute bible as far as repairing an anniversary clock is concerned.  You will find the exact parts you will require.  From that information you will be able to order whatever your needs from a clock materials supply house.  I urge that you opt for the complete suspension spring unit, i.e. top block, fork, suspension spring and bottom block.  All these parts are precisely assembled for your clock.  You would need only to hang the components.  Regards WJP
