this clock has a battery cover on rear. i would like to know what type of battery , and possibly a year of when this clock was made
the back has a sticker that reads, helmsman E545-001 seth thomas div. of general time corp. thomaston, conn. u.s.a. thank you for your time and intrest.

I don't really have any good answers for you but I'll tell you what I can. I would guess that the battery would be a "D" or a "C" size.
There may be a two digit year stamped on the back plate of the clock movement. An example would be 77 means 1977.
The clock was probably made in the 1970s but without that date stamp I can't be sure.
