Question
I read your answer to a similar item, but my grandfather clock was sold by Emperor Clock Co. made by Hermle Black Forest Clocks and has the number 83 at the top and gives the Emperor Clock Co. as the distributor, made by Hermle Black Forest Clocks: Item number 461-050H; 94cm/66.  I purchased this clock from an individual and she had no information on this clock.  The face of the clock does indicate that it is German made.  Is this clock an antique and for insurance purposes, about how much value should I insure it?  It seems to be in mint condition, except the back panel at the top has been removed.

Answer
The Emperor clock company is a provider of medium price clock kits they sell to consumers for home assembly.  Your particular clock was provided with a Hermle model 461-050H movement.  Being kit clock none are of great value.  Emperor Clock is still very much in business and can be reached via the Internet at <www.emperorclock.com>.  Emperor maintain a very good customer service division.  I suggest you contact them with any questions you might have.  Regards WJP
