Clocks, Watches/Illinois watch

Question
My Dad just gave me a watch that was owned by my Grandfather. It is from the Illinois Watch Co. I looked at the serial number on the movement, it is 1420262. from the charts I have seen it is from 1900. The movement also says SANGAMO and 21 Ruby Jewels. Can you tell me anymore about the watch? I was thinking about getting it fixed. Do you think it's worth getting fixed?

Answer
Keith,

This is  a very high grade watch.

Illinois was well known for excellent quality and this is top of the line.

I would suggest that you write down a complete history of the owners (to the best of your knowledge).  That will add to the sentimental value when you pass it down.

Kind regards,

Melvin
