Question

scan of wadsworth watc
Among my late father in law's possessions we found a small pocket watch - possibly a ladie's watch (perhaps belonging to his mother). The name across the face of the watch is 'Imperial' and inside the watch it is listed as Wadsworth Referee. A number on the inside may be a serial  number - 2335714. We may pass this on to our son, but would like to determine if there is any value in doing so and if it can be made to run. I have attached a scanned image of the face of the watch, and can provide other information from the inside of the watch if needed.  Thank you for your time.

Answer
Ms. Mary,

It does look like a ladies watch.

Any mechanical watch can be made to run.  It would depend on what is wrong with
it as to the cost.

A simple servicing would run $80-150.
If it needs parts, it goes up.

Your son would not use it so having it in running order is probably not important.

If you gets married and wants to give it to his wife or daughter as a gift, that is
another matter.

To know for sure, you will need to take it to a local watchmaker and get his diagnosis.
He can tell you the cost to restore it to running order.

Kind regards,

Melvin
