Question

Enammelled case
Grandads 1912 pocket watch with a Waltham movement, is in an Illinois Watch Co Case no 2480631, 2 plates of gold and 20 yrs wear. It has however some enamelling. Is this unusual, as I have seen engraved, but not enamelled cases. Thanks for your time,
Regards
David D

Answer
David,

I sure do love these old pocket watches.

This one is beautiful.

Yes, enameled cases are more rare.  It added to the cost and there were not many who could afford the extra expense just for aesthetics.

I would also suggest adding the history of the owners, as you know it.  For example, your Grandad's name, date of birth and death, where he worked, lived etc.  This will add to the sentimental value for the next generation when you pass it down.

Kind regards,
