Question
Hi - as a gift, I just received a Seth Thomas mantle clock. Here is the brass stamp info: MADE IN GERMANY FOR SETH THOMAS DIVISION GENERAL TIME CORP. THOMASTON, CONN - A208-005 . TWO (2) JEWELS - 7610. Sticker inside reads Lynton 2W, 7612, E687-204 Issue 1. When it arrived, the minute hand was loose from the center post and lying inside the closed glass cover, and the nut was missing. I can't imagine where the nut would have gone but I checked inside the box/packing materials, and it doesn't seem to be inside the clock anywhere unless it's jammed up inside the mechanism. For this reason, I haven't tried to wind the clock. Anyway, I'm really just looking for date/manufacture info, and where I might be able to obtain a nut. Thanks in advance for your info and expertise!

Answer
Actually your clock was made by Hermle of Gosheim-Black Forest, Germany.  Seth Thomas went out of production in 1970.  Talley industries, later to become a part General Time acquired the rights to the Seth Thomas name.  I do not have any information by which I can date your clock.  By the information your provided me it would most likely be 1976.  We know for a fact it has to be subsequent to 1970 because of the General Time logo.  As to a hand nut go to a jewelry store and ask them for handnut for a Hermle 141-030.  Regards WJP
