Clocks, Watches/cuckoo clock chimes wrong for half past hour

Question
Hello there,

My best friend gifted me a Hones Cuckoo clock while coming from Germany last August. It was working properly until last week when we had few guests in our house. It still cuckoos correctly for hours but for half past hours it cuckoos twice sometimes thrice (earlier it was only once). Also it cuckoos twice sometimes thrice for 1'o' clock. When I adjust its time as per the chime, it works fine for few hours but after that it again starts the same issue ( chimes twice for half an hour). Can this be corrected? Any idea why is it happening? Many thanks for your help.

Answer
Your problem is located behind the dial and in front of the movement frontplate in what is called the motion works.  The rack and cams governing the strike mechanism are not performing their proper function.  I suspect a pin/washer or both is defective or missing.  It would be appropriate to refer this to a qualified repair person.  Regards WJP
