Question

Daneker Mantle Clock
I found a Daneker Mantle Clock at a pawn shop that I really liked.  I searched the web to find out more about it but since the company appears to no longer be in existence, I'm having a hard time.  The info on the back of the clock shows:

On the left:

On the right:

ORGOS or URGUS
Made in Germany
2 (two) jewels
Unadjusted
UW 6/36 A

I may be off as it was hard to read.

Can you tell me any info on the clock like when it was made, what it's called if it has a name, etc.

yep, out of business- they made the case in their factory in MD

The Urgos Company in Germany made the mechanism for Daneker

The Hermle Company in Germany bought out Urgos and make the Urgos grandfather clock movements still- but quit making all spring driven ones like yours. The little balance wheel has a little jewel in each end for the center wire to rotate around. The UW 6/36A was Urgos's part number for the mechanism.

Commonly called a Bracket clock- the style is still being made by say, Howard Miller, and others and they are very popular as  Company retirement gifts--either that or a gold watch!
